Latest update: Sunday 14 May, 20:00 hrs.

Today, Feyenoord has won the Dutch soccer championship. On Monday May 15 the soccer team will be honoured on the balcony of the Rotterdam City Hall at the Coolsingel. The Conference venue (WTC) is located in the middle of the celebrations and will be very crowded (>150.000).

Please find all information regarding transportation and accessibility below.

World Trade Centre (WTC)

Latest update: Friday 12 May, 11:30 hrs.

The World Trade Centre (WTC) is located near the Coolsingel. This road will be closed off on Monday due the celebration of the Championship of Feyenoord (if they win the Sunday match). Due to this road block, cars cannot reach the WTC and trams will not run via the Coolsingel. Taking the metro is the best way to reach the WTC, please get out at the stop ‘Beurs‘.

From the Metro station (Beurs) you take the exit ‘Beurstraverse / Beurs-WTC‘. Then you should take escalators or elevator on the left side of the Beurstraverse to get to the street level. You will see the stairs to the main entrance of the WTC.

If the escalator or the elevator does not work, you should walk to the end of the ‘Beurstraverse’ and turn left at the end. Then you should walk back (on street level) parallel to the route you have taken. You should see the WTC on the right and see the stairs to the main entrance after 100 meters.

To enter the WTC, please use the main entrance.

Important information – Feyenoord championship

Latest update: Friday 12 May, 11:00 hrs.

With a few days left till the 12th Heat Pump Conference in the city of Rotterdam, we have important information to share. WE ADVISE YOU TO READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY.

In preparation of your arrival, we would like to inform you about the possible championship of our local soccer team, Feyenoord. Besides being an international conference destination, Rotterdam is also home to the soccer team of Feyenoord. This Sunday, after 18 years, Feyenoord has the opportunity to win the Dutch soccer championship. If Feyenoord wins, the team will be honoured on the balcony of the Rotterdam City Hall on Monday at the Coolsingel.

The local authorities are expecting large crowds (> 60.000 on Sunday and > 150.000 on Monday) attending this event in the city on Sunday and Monday and are taking additional measures.

Please take the information below into consideration for your arrival plans.

Sunday
It is very likely that it will be busy in the city centre from 11.00 (11.00 AM CET) hrs. Therefore we advise you to check in (if possible) before 11.00 hrs. After that it can be very busy at certain points, especially around the City Hall at the Coolsingel.
The public transport will operate, but it will be very busy and can take up more time than expected. The hotels can be reached with taxi’s, but it can take up more time and be more expensive. The city centre will be locked down, no taxi or car can take you there. Please take the public transport or walk. Please take a look at the factsheet to avoid crowded areas.

Unfortunately we know that not all football supporters are true supporters. Especially when Feyenoord will lose the match, they will not become Champion, there is an increased risk for violence in the city. We would advise you not to visit the city centre and enjoy your diner in the hotel.

Of course we hope that Feyenoord will win and you can enjoy a lively party in the centre of Rotterdam.

Monday
The first Conference workshops start at 9.30 AM in Rotterdam. Because of the official celebration (at 12 PM CET) in the city centre it will be very crowded during the entire day. This only when Feyenoord wins the Championship. Then, as from 6 AM till 8 PM CET you will only be able to come to the Conference venue (WTC) by public transport. Car traffic is not allowed at the Coolsingel and city centre area (see our factsheet). If you are travelling by car, we advise you to park at a Park & Ride in Rotterdam and take the public transport to WTC. The parking garages WTC and V&D are opened on Sunday and Monday until 09.00 hrs.

Please click here for more information about traveling options to your hotel. Should you be staying in a different hotel and would like to receive advice about the best walking route to the WTC please contact us at heatpump@congressbydesign.com.

Please check the updates above for the latest update on how you can enter the WTC.

Due to the official celebration of the Feyenoord players we cannot have the Welcome Reception at the City Hall. From 5.30 till 7 PM the Welcome Reception will be in the conference venue World Trade Centre Rotterdam.

We advise you to follow updates on this matter via our special updates page of our website www.hpc2017.org/feyenoord-championship/. This website will be updated every day with new information. Please check this page for the latest information just before your departure.
