Walter Mittelbach, is graduate physicist and the founder of SorTech AG. Since 1995 he carried out basic groundwork in adsorption heat applications at Fraunhofer-Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) in Freiburg, in co-operation with the solar collector manufacturer UFE SOLAR GmbH. After concentrating R&D activities on adsorption heat storage during that period, he decided to found SorTech AG in 2002 and shifted the emphasis on adsorption heat pumps and chillers. His team and himself received numerous awards for the development of compact and efficient adsorption chillers, which SorTech is manufacturing and distributing since 2007. Currently, he is inventor or coinventor of 14 patents held by SorTech AG.
